Winter Warning for New Concrete Owners!

Hey neighbors! If you just installed a new driveway, sidewalk, or patio, please skip the rock salt or chemical de-icers this season.
Fresh concrete is still curing and extra porous for its first full year. Salt melts snow into a salty brine that soaks right in. When temperatures drop again, it freezes, expands, and pops off the surface—causing scaling, spalling, flaking, and pitting that can permanently damage your investment.
Safe alternatives that protect your concrete:
Shovel or sweep snow and ice right away
Spread plain sand for traction (it works great and won’t harm the surface)
Avoid all chemical de-icers until the concrete is at least one year old.
At Little Bay, we build quality concrete that lasts—and we’re here to help protect it. Need advice on winter care, sealing services, or repairs? Drop us a message or give us a call. Your concrete is an investment—we want it looking great for years!
Stay safe out there!
