SikaFiber®

There are multiple reasons for adding fibers in concrete. One of the main benefits of fibers are the homogenous distribution in the concrete. Other benefits include:

  • Better cohesion of the fresh concrete

  • Control and reduce crack sizes due to early-age shrinkage

  • Improve flexural and shear strength

  • Improve load capacity and ductility

  • Increase toughness and abrasion resistance

  • Increase resistance to explosive spalling

  • Replace or partially replace traditional reinforcing steel

  • Save time in the construction process and reduce costs

Most micro and many macro fibers come in degradable “toss-in” bags for easy dosing.

Micro Synthetic Fibers

(Primarily for plastic shrinkage & settlement crack control; improve early-age performance, impact/abrasion resistance, and durability)

  • Sika® Fibermesh® HP — Fine-denier monofilament polypropylene. High fiber count at lower dosage rates.

  • Sika® Fibermesh®-150 — Monofilament polypropylene. Standard micro fiber for general plastic shrinkage control.

  • Sika® Fibermesh®-300 — Fibrillated polypropylene. Can replace light-gauge wire mesh (e.g., 6x6 W1.4/W1.4) for temperature/shrinkage reinforcement.

  • Sika® Fibermesh®-150F — Monofilament polypropylene specialized for reducing fire-induced explosive spalling.

(Structural performance – flexural toughness, residual strength, crack-width control; can replace or reduce wire mesh/rebar in many slab applications)
